Midterm primaries have begun!  Already the votes for some of the first primaries are in. So, for all of you who have genuine interest in this countries politics, here is a rundown of what the current results indicate for the elections ahead.

The large news is in fact the lack of change in these primaries.  In the Republican party, many of the Tea Party candidates favored to bring change to Washington lost to incumbent Republicans who were much more moderate.  Many people who follow politics believe that this is due to many of the Republican base being disillusioned with the Tea Party.  Others say that the base has simply gotten more donors than grassroots candidates.  While both of these factors are important, it remains to be seen in the results from the rest of the states.

Another victory for the Establishment Republicans is their win in Kentucky.  Mitch McConnell defeated his more conservative opponents by a majority, a great sign for Republicans worried about him losing the seat.

For Democrats, there were no major surprises this past month.  No close or surprise races have happened yet, but an interesting race is shaping up in Pennsylvania.  It is considered a weak spot for Republicans, and Democrats are eager to capitalize on it.
