If you have read most of my reviews from this year, I have reviewed almost every superhero movie that has been released this year, mostly the ones from Marvel. With many hits this year like The Lego Batman Movie, Logan, Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2, Wonder Woman, and Spider-Man: Homecoming. Now, Marvel Studios blasts their god of thunder back to the big screen with Thor: Ragnarok.

Set after the events of Avengers: Age of Ultron, Thor, held captive on the planet Sakaar without his hammer, must win a gladiatorial duel against an old friend, the Hulk, in order to return to Asgard in time to stop the villainous Hela and the impending Ragnarök, the doom of the Asgardian civilization.

Thor: Ragnarok is easily the best Thor film in the trilogy. I thought the first one was pretty good (8/10) and the second one, Thor: The Dark World, was kind of average (6 or 7/10), Ragnarok is easily what I think a Thor movie should be. This movie has you engaged right from the start your usual Marvel dose of intense action and great laughs. And speaking of the humor, this is possibly the funniest Marvel movie to date! Heck, maybe even funnier than both Guardians of the Galaxy films. And speaking of Guardians, Ragnarok has a kind of similar tone where it doesn’t take itself too seriously and to director Taika Waititi’s credit, it really works. The characters are also really enjoyable with the actors delivering on the performances most notably of course Chris Hemsworth as Thor, Tom Hiddleston as Loki, Cate Blanchett as Hela, Jeff Goldblum as Grandmaster and Taika Waititi as Korg, who are both show-stealers whenever they’re on screen, and Mark Ruffalo as Bruce Banner/Hulk. As I’ve stated with my other Marvel movie reviews, STAY DURING THE CREDITS TO SEE WHAT WILL BE COMING NEXT FOR MARVEL! Also, even though this movie is rated PG-13, it is a bit of a harder PG-13, but isn’t an R because of some brutal violence by MCU standards but isn’t as brutal as something like Logan or Deadpool, and some questionable jokes that will make you ask “How did they manage to get away with that?!”

If you are a fan of Marvel or you are looking a fun sci-fi adventure with some great laughs, then this is definitely a must watch! I’m going to give Thor: Ragnarok a 9/10 with the Edward’s Seal of Approval.
