Regretting You is a new movie directed by Josh Boone that people have been raving about ever since the trailer was released. Featuring a romantic drama about a teenage girl named Clara whose father unfortunately passes away during a car crash, which changes her life in both good and bad ways. This movie features her enduring grief and the revealing of others’ secrets, all while finding love in the most unexpected places. This movie was released on October 24, 2025, and I’m going to tell you all about what I liked, what I didn’t, and everything in between!
Regretting You is a romantic drama with tons of plot twists and secrets that are unraveled throughout the movie. This movie is rated PG-13, and I will say, it’s a bit of a tear-jerker. I think this movie is excellent in so many unique ways. I loved the romance aspect of it, and I thought it was very cute and interesting. On the other hand, however, I thought that the majority of the movie was going to be about Clara and Miller, but I was wrong. In my opinion, I think the movie focused too much on the parents rather than the teenagers themselves. I knew there were some sad parts, but I thought I was signing up to watch a teen rom-com, not a tragedy that makes the parents the main focus point. I think this affected my perspective on the movie due to the upheaving fact it wasn’t exactly what I expected. Other than that, the movie was great and the acting was amazing. The actors who stood out to me the most were McKenna Grace and Mason Thames, the actors playing characters Carla Grant and Miller Adams. Their chemistry they showed in the movie was phenomenal. It’s clear that they’ve worked quite hard on this film. Their on-screen romance felt believable and quite natural.
Speaking of believable, the set locations and set designs were made to feel rural. This added to the countryside vibe of this film. Regretting You was filmed in Atlanta, Georgia. Filming on location added a ton of different possibilities; for instance, in the beginning when the main character, Clara, drives by and is surprised to see Miller outside. She gives him a ride, and in this scene it was only possible because he’s the only other person around due to how small the town is. Director Josh Boone actually chose to use both sound, stages, and on location filming to achieve this small-town effect. He actually used a real high school and cafe in the film.
I think this movie was overall amazing, with various plot twists, happy moments, and sorrowful moments. I loved the setting, characters, and every aspect the movie has to offer. Some things I didn’t love as much were how much of the movie was focused on the parents. Also, I felt like I had been “catfished” by the trailer, since the trailer seemed to be more about Clara and Miller. Aside from that, although I enjoyed watching this film, there could’ve been much better fixed details and mixing between different characters. I’d say this movie was overall not terrible, so I rate it a 3.5/5 flames.
