Spanish Club is not just giving students more than just extra language practice, but it’s offering food, culture, and connection once a month under the guidance of adviser Mrs. Sekuterski.

The club meets once a month with one meeting focused on an activity and the other centered around food or cooking. From games to cultural lessons, members explore traditions from Spanish-speaking countries in an interactive way.

Mrs. Sekuterski said she created the club “to share the Spanish language and culture with students to open up their minds to new things.”

She added that one of her favorite foods the club has made is Rosca de Reyes, a traditional Spanish holiday dessert. She also enjoys teaching students about Antoni Gaudí, the famous Spanish artist and architect known for Park Güell.

“I love how Spanish sounds.” She also stated, “It’s important to communicate with people from different cultures.”

Members say the club creates a welcoming environment. Jasmine N. shared that she would like to add a Spanish movie night. “It would be a fun way to practice listening skills and learn more about the culture.”

She joined because she loves learning about Spanish language and traditions and wanted to use Spanish outside the classroom. Officer Vanessa Rosen said she stepped into leadership to share her passion.

“Being a leader for a language and culture that interests me is a great opportunity,” she said.

She hopes to bring churros to a future meeting and encourages others to join, adding that the club is “so much fun and everyone is welcome.”
