Watching “Wonder” With Your Family

As the COVID-19 pandemic continues, we have been staying at home for long times. Everyone wants to watch some movies during the quarantine.  So today we’ll be looking at this movie, “Wonder”. 

It is a drama film directed by Stephen Chbosky, produced by David Hoberman and Todd Lieberman, and screenplay by Jack Thorne, Steven Conrad and Chbosky. It was released on November 17, 2017 in the U.S. and now in many countries from around the world. It has a length of 113 minutes. The movie is based on the book “Wonder” by R. J. Palacio. This movie was nominated for many awards and won some of them. The filming took place in Canada and New York.

Some of the actors in this movie are Jacob Tremblay who played Auggie, the main character, Julia Roberts who played his mother, Owen Wilson who played his father, and Izabela Vidovic who played his sister. 

The main character August (nicknamed Auggie) Pullman had rare medical facial deformity and had surgery for 27 times.  He didn’t go to elementary school. He was homeschooled for four years. He is a fifth grader and parents decided to let him go to middle school and learn with other students. His sister Olivia goes to high school. She has her best friend Miranda. They also play an important role in the movie. 

Jacob Tremblay had to do some makeup for his role. Arjen Tuiten designed it and took about 1 and half hours. Many musicians created music to play for the film. Marcelo Zarvos composed a score and Bea Miller composed a song.

The movie has a rating of more than 80 percent based on about 200 reviews. They got high rating average even though some people claimed that this movie isn’t playing enough role to spread the understanding of the disease. 

This movie has high quality of storytelling how the main character suffers throughout his life in school and good scene to understand the importance of friendship.
