With a 90% rating on Rotten Tomatoes and a worldwide gross of over $2.45 billion, Spider-Man: A Brand New Day has become one of the biggest movies of 2026. Starring Tom Holland, Zendaya, Jacob Batalon, and Sadie Sink, the movie brings back familiar faces while also introducing new characters to the Spider-Man universe. Holland returns as Peter Parker, Zendaya returns as MJ, Batalon returns as Peter’s best friend, Ned, and Sink joins the cast as Jean Grey.

The film has made headlines for its massive box-office success. A Brand New Day earned $360,091,572 during its opening weekend in the United States and Canada, beating Avengers: Endgame for the biggest domestic opening weekend ever. Since then, the movie has continued to bring in audiences, reaching about $939.5 million domestically and $2.46 billion worldwide. It also recently passed Star Wars: The Force Awakens to become the highest-grossing movie ever at the North American box office.

However, the movie is more than just its impressive numbers. After the events of Spider-Man: No Way Home, the world no longer remembers Peter Parker. He is now fighting crime full-time as Spider-Man while watching the people he once knew move on with their lives. This gives the movie a different feeling compared to the previous films.

Peter is also dealing with a strange change that he does not fully understand. As he tries to figure out what is happening to him, a new threat appears in New York, forcing him to balance his personal problems with his responsibility as Spider-Man. The story focuses more on Peter’s life and the consequences of being completely on his own.

Tom Holland continues to bring both humor and emotion to the character. Peter is still the sarcastic and sometimes awkward Spider-Man audiences are used to, but this movie shows a more serious side of him. Seeing Peter deal with being forgotten while still choosing to protect other people adds more depth to his character.

This newfound intensity of Peter is amplified as he struggles with the metamorphosis of his powers. As his abilities begin to change, Peter is forced to confront a side of being Spider-Man that he has never experienced before. While he is used to dealing with villains and protecting the people of New York, understanding his own body becomes an entirely different challenge. His developing powers also add another layer to the story, showing a new but familiar characterization of Spider-Man. Instead of the growing child who was once learning how to become a hero, he is now the experienced hero who is learning how to adapt to changes he cannot control.

Overall, Spider-Man: A Brand New Day gives Peter Parker a fresh start while keeping many of the things that have made Tom Holland’s Spider-Man popular. With its huge audience, record-breaking box office, returning characters, and new additions, the movie has created another major chapter in Peter Parker’s story.
