A new year and another phone released: with new features, new colors, and even new updates, the iPhone 17 Pro catches the eyes of many people.

Instead of titanium, Apple employed aluminum for a decrease in temperature after long hours of use. This phone is created to have a longer battery life, low heat conductivity, and a lighter weight. The older generation models tend to be thicker and heavier, whereas the Pro and Pro Max feature a slim design perfect for lightweight carrying. Overall, the iPhone 17 Pro seems like a worthy option.

However, social media has something else to say. Platforms such as TikTok, Instagram, and YouTube show videos of the phone being demolished after one drop. Others say the phone is not durable and the battery life decreases rapidly due to the new operating system. Apple hasn’t commented on this issue yet; however, many people online have already taken action and shared their opinions.

The lack of durability could be attributed to the absence of titanium in the phone. Aluminum is more prone to breaking than titanium is, making the phone more vulnerable. Not only has this phone received numerous complaints for its fragility, but it has also received poor reviews due to the high scratch rate of the chassis. Walking into an Apple store and seeing multiple dents and scratches embedded in the back of the phone has customers worried about its durability.

Allegedly, Apple released a statement saying that the scratches are from the MagSafe stand used for demos, and the social media posts are not to be taken literally. A solution Apple proposes is that you could simply wipe them away with a cleaning solution and a cloth.

This advice was quickly debunked after videos of trying this hack didn’t work on significantly scratched phones; however, we should take into account that these phones didn’t have cases, which leads to the obvious conclusion that no protection on phones will heighten the risks of cracks and screen damage. While social media could be lying, the chances of the phone scratching without a MagSafe stand are alarming: this puts the phone at major risk.

So, after a review of the facts, would you buy the iPhone 17 Pro?
