Cue “Party in the USA” by Miley Cyrus because Homecoming 2025 is just around the corner! From Monday, October 6th to Saturday, October 11th, get ready for a week packed with spirit, fun, and unforgettable moments. Let’s run through the eventful week.
The week kicks off on Monday, October 6th, with a pep assembly that promises high energy and loads of school spirit. Games like a grade-level tug of war competition will set the tone, and the Homecoming Court Nominees will also be revealed. Each grade level will show off their colors with freshmen in white, sophomores in black, juniors in yellow, and seniors in red. The class competition will also begin that day.
Tuesday takes us into “Travel Tuesday”, a dress-up theme that invites students to dress as if they’re traveling by plane, train, or car. After school, there will be a school-wide Ping Pong tournament in the Commons with both a singles and doubles bracket; this event is sponsored by Student Council. There will be prizes for the top three individuals and top three doubles’ teams.
Wednesday will be USA Day, where students will be decked out in their red, white, and blue. After school, there will also be a Care Walk on the track from 3-4 PM with participants walking for a cause; there will be a $5 participation fee. Attending can earn you some NHS, Gov, or volunteering hours, as well.
Thursday, October 9th, is Theme Day, representing the week’s name “Party in the USA”. Each class will represent a different region of the country: freshmen as the North, sophomores as the South, juniors as the East, and seniors as the West Coast. For outfit inspiration, please refer to the Student Council or Class Instagram pages.
In the evening, there will be more activities with the football game between the juniors and seniors at 5 PM, the much-loved Taste of East, and bonfire. Clubs will line the parking lot selling food from 6 to 8 PM, so bring cash!
Friday keeps the momentum going with another pep assembly during the school day and a red-and-gold theme to show school spirit. At 7 PM, there will be a football game under the lights. Be sure to show up!
Finally, on Saturday, the dance will take place in the gym from 6-9 PM; you are required to stay for a minimum of 2 hours. Make sure to bring your purchased ticket and school ID! In addition, the Homecoming Court winners will be announced, so be sure to check that out!
(As a senior, I can confidently tell you that Homecoming week is one of the best weeks of the entire school year, so be sure to enjoy it and make the most of every moment because it truly is a wonderful experience.)
