The 63rd annual GRAMMY Awards are almost here! Music artists, Beyoncé, Taylor Swift, Dua Lipa and Roddy Ricch, picked up the most nominations while the Weeknd and Luke Combs were two of the most surprising nominees on the list.
For this year’s GRAMMYs, the Recording Academy has announced that “The Daily Show” host and GRAMMY- nominated comedian, Trevor Noah, will be hosting the award ceremony. This marks the first time Noah will host “Music’s Biggest Night”. In a statement on his Twitter account, Noah wrote, “Despite the fact that I am extremely disappointed that the GRAMMYs have refused to have me sing or be nominated for Best Pop Album, I am thrilled to be hosting this auspicious event.” There’s no doubt that Noah will easily keep viewers engaged and entertained throughout the award ceremony.
Following Beyoncé, Taylor Swift ties with Dua Lipa and Roddy Ricch for a total of six GRAMMY nominations. Swift earned 5 nominations for her 8th studio album, folklore: Best Pop Solo Performance and Song of the Year for “cardigan”, Best Pop Duo/Group Performance for “exile” with Bon Iver, as well as Best Pop Vocal Album and Album of the Year for folklore. She was also nominated for Best Song Written for Visual Media alongside Andrew Lloyd Weber for “Beautiful Ghosts” from the film Cats. As many fans know, the singer recorded her latest album alone amid the coronavirus pandemic and, much to everyone’s surprise, released it this past July, less than a year after the release of her previous record, Lover. However, unlike her past tracks, Swift sheds her ultra-pop image and opts for a more indie sound in folklore that truly highlights her artistic and songwriting abilities. The nominations come just days before the album was named the Best Album of 2020 by Rolling Stone and Swift’s concert film, Folklore: The Long Pond Studio Sessions, was released on Disney+.
The ceremony will be broadcasted by CBS from Los Angeles on Sunday, January 31st at 8 P.M. ET. The GRAMMY Awards Premiere Ceremony will be livestreamed on GRAMMY.com at 3:00 P.M. ET. Needless to say, this award season will be an exciting one!
