Though the staff of The East Side was apprehensive about the second Coffee House of the year due to the lack of publicity and supposed interest in the week of midterms and snowdays, it was pleasantly surprised at the huge turnout at the event on Friday, January 31. The Coffee House allowed students from all classes to celebrate the end of the second marking period– and coincidentally the first semester (here’s looking at you, second semester seniors) by watching their friends perform acts of comedy and music and enjoying grilled cheese sandwiches, raspberry goat cheese paninis, waffles, and coffee prepared by the staff.
Performances included Peter Kazmierczak’s “Scenes from a Hat” (a la Who’s Line is it Anyways?), the jazzy pop tunes of Swing Theory, poetry from Aneeqah Muzzamil, and other musical acts by Maggie Verrico and Malika Kodial, Alyssa and Sydney Mitchell, Jillian Seiderz, Nicholas Leberer, Collin’s Band, Anjor Khadilkar with Liam Greiner, Michael Covelli, and countless others.
Keep your eye out for the next Coffee House set to open in the Spring, and in the meantime, check out pictures from the event on the East Side News’s Facebook page and on E1!
