Here at Will East, innovation can be found everywhere, from art rooms to chemistry labs. However, for Brian Xu, creativity stems from engineering and transforming digital concepts into real creations. Known by peers and teachers for being a highly intelligent student, Brian has developed a strong passion of 3D printing and engineering. His pursuits for technology and craftsmanship have gone beyond the classroom. From constructing 3D models to programming an arduino board, Brian uses most of his free time learning and building new things.

What makes Brian different isn’t just his ability to advance his technical capabilities, but his mindset. He puts patience, willingness, and effort into each experiment. Whether he’s turning cardboard into a functional automatic water gun or making a cramp simulator, he sees every obstacle as an opportunity to grow.

Brian’s hobbies started off pure curiosity and social media. Like many people fascinated in engineering, he began by seeing videos of people making absurd machines and practiced using Tinkercad to start building simple models. Interested in turning whatever he imagined into reality, he quickly gained an interest in the software.

“I like being able to create something from nothing,” Brian said. “With 3D printing you make anything you could possibly want, and be able to hold it the next day later.”
