Brody Macdonell is a senior at Williamsville East who is known for being a great athlete. He is a tremendous hockey player, but he is an even better lacrosse player. Brody is a long stick midfielder in lacrosse. For those who don’t know, you have your defense, midfielders, and you have your attack men. Brody is a hybrid between defense and a midfielder, where he uses a long pole for his stick . When asked what coach inspired him he said,” Give me Coach Blake, for sure.” What makes Brody look up to Coach Blake is his love for the game and him wanting Brody to succeed just as much as Brody does. His favorite memories from playing lacrosse at East were the bus rides, and the locker room after a win, with the music going. Also the film session before practice, specifically the defense film room. Some of his greatest achievements playing lacrosse are getting called up as a freshman of varsity, second team all section, as a junior, and then two time, Underclassman All Star. In the all star game he viewed it as a new challenge and liked how everyone there had just as much passion for the game of lacrosse as he does. Overall, he had a great time and a great experience.
He has two siblings, both sisters, one 19 and the other 12, making Brody the middle child. He is very close with both of sisters. He will be attending Nazareth University in the fall and plans to study finance while also playing lacrosse there. Brody takes his academics very seriously, maintaining a 90 average throughout high school, while taking great interest in history. Some activities Brody likes to do outside of school is hang out with friends, go to concerts, video games, and pickleball . He made it known in his interview that he and I will take on anyone in pickleball. Some of Brody’s go to video games are Minecraft, Zelda, and Call of Duty. He plays on the PS4 in his room and then shares the PS5 with his Dad. He says that he is a better overall gamer then his dad because he always beats him in the sport games and that he and his dad will never duo up on the same team because of their 2 different play styles.
His favorite music genre is alternative rock and favorite artist is Mac DeMarco. He was actually wearing a Mac DeMarco shirt during the interview after recently going to the concert. His dream concert would be Tame Impala. When asked if you went to a gas station, you’re hungry, what are you getting? For a beverage he said an original 12 oz Red Bull. First snack, a bag of white cheddar cheez-itz. And then for candy, he picked a bag of sour patch kids. Brody has two dogs named Lola and Bubba. His family also fosters dogs,”So, my family, we always pick up puppies. We love it, like, just fostering the puppies, so we usually bring in, like, puppies for a couple months, and then foster off to a new family. It’s a little bit tricky, ’cause puppies are, like, to cause trouble. You know, so there’s a little bit of havoc in the house, but overall, it’s a good time. You don’t have, like, a big, aggressive dog running around your house.” He stated that his family has probably fostered around 80 puppies.
He described his four years at East as very eventful with a lot of high and lows. But at the end of the day he had a great time and couldn’t have asked for a better high school experience. He is excited for the future and ready to take the next step forward, but will also miss going to school with all of his friends and seeing them everyday.
