First of all, I’d like to thank Jennifer Ehmann for passing the torch to me with such kind words. In a fun turn of events, I was handed the torch by a Jennifer, and I am handing the torch to a Jennifer!
Please join me in celebrating the remarkable achievements of Jennifer Klucynski! Jen spearheads the award winning Project Lead the Way program here at East. She currently is teaching 6 classes with 5 different preps, a course load that makes my head spin just thinking about it. Whenever I encounter Jen, she is all smiles, and seems amazingingly unflappable, despite the work that goes into the courses. From Design, Drawing, and Production, all the way through the Capstone course, Jen gets a chance to work with students from the beginning to the end of their high school career when they decide to see it through. The project based learning that occurs in her classes is very important for many of our students here at East, and gives them challenging “hands on” learning opportunities as well as a creative outlet, and even a chance to compete in Tech Wars.
Although Jen and I do not get the opportunity to spend much time together, I’ve heard a lot about “Miss K” over the past four years as my daughter is now pursuing her degree in architecture, largely thanks to Jen’s inspiration. I am deeply grateful to Jen on a personal level for all that she did for my daughter, and I am thankful that she runs this program for all of our students interested in the engineering, architecture, and design path. She definitely carries the torch!
