The world questions Sochi's safety as the host of the 2014 Winter Olympics experiences terrorist bombings.

Terrorists have been plaguing the Sochi Winter Olympic games for the past couple of weeks.  Just last week, there was a series of suicide bombings.  The bombings occurred in a populated train station in Volgograd, Russia.  Another bombing took place in the same city at a railway station.  Several people died in the terrorist bombings.

Russian authorities have said that such demonstrations would not occur at the games, and that it was safe for all visitors.  The death toll of the incident was 33.

However, a new development has occurred.  The group who perpetrated the attacks has recently released a video stating that they were preparing a surprise for visitors to the Sochi Olympic Games.  US analysts have confirmed that the video was by the same group who  perpetrated the attacks.

This causes many concerns for the international community.  This is because any risk of violence at the densely packed Sochi could cause the death of many athletes and spectators.  However, Russia is imposing tight security in and around sochi.  Many Olympic athletes are concerned about safety in Russia.

This only adds to the controversy surrounding the Russian Olympics.  Earlier, controversy also arose in the country after gay protests were put down and protests or any “gay propaganda” was effectively banned.

The Olympic games in Russia have had a rocky start.  With opening ceremonies starting in less than a month, it is unclear whether the games will be able to fix these problems in time.
