If you like reading and want to discuss books with your peers, then Book Club is the place for you! Meeting every other Thursday in the library, the members finish a book a month on average.

“Usually it’s sort of like a group decision,” said club advisor, Mrs. Weber said when asked how they pick their next book. “Someone will say ‘I really like mysteries’ and then we try to choose something.”

“I really enjoyed being in the club my freshman year,” commented president, Jack Ruddock, who is now a sophomore, “as having a place to have discussions on literature and books in general is very enjoyable for me.”

“What I typically do is make sure everyone gets their opinion in and everyone is happy with what we decide to do next for the club,” he added.

James Barr, who has been a member of book club for two years, said that he joined the club  because he enjoys reading and talking about books with friends. His favorite book out of the ones they’ve read together is Animal Farm by George Orwell.

The club isn’t confined to Williamsville East, though, as they recently helped set up the used book sale at Maple East Elementary. They also participate in events like Clubhouse Decorating in December.

All are welcome at Book Club, so stop by! Read, share your thoughts with your peers and, most importantly, have fun!
