This year, the Emmys were held on September 14th at the Peacock Theater in LA. Many notable awards were delivered, and the night was full of heartwarming and memorable moments.

Netflix’s outstanding original, Adolescence, was successful at the Emmys, taking home a total of six awards. Since its release in March earlier this year, it’s climbed to the #2 spot in Netflix’s most-watched shows ever in just 6 months. Arguably the most impressive of its awards is Owen Cooper’s win (OUTSTANDING SUPPORTING ACTOR IN A LIMITED OR ANTHOLOGY SERIES OR MOVIE) at only 15 years old, making him the youngest-ever male Emmy winner. Cooper described the moment as “just so surreal.”

Apple TV+ exclusive The Studio broke the record for most awarded comedy in just a year, as well as most wins for a first season at 13 trophies.

Severance, another Apple TV+ hit, won two awards: Britt Lower (LEAD ACTRESS IN A DRAMA SERIES) and Tramell Tillman (SUPPORTING ACTOR IN A DRAMA SERIES). When Tillman accepted his trophy as the first Black person to win the category, he was “full, humbled, and honored.”

The Israel and Palestine conflict continues to affect the media daily, and the Emmys were no exception. Hannah Einbinder, who won the supporting actress in a comedy series award for Hacks, wrapped up her acceptance speech by saying, “—- Ice and free Palestine.” When questioned about her conclusion backstage, Einbinder replied, “It is my obligation as a Jewish person to distinguish Jews from the state of Israel.”

Earlier that night on the red carpet, Javier Bardem (Monsters: The Lyle and Erik Menendez Story) talked about Israel’s “apartheid regime.” Meg Stalter (Hacks) made a similar statement with her bag, on which the word “ceasefire!” was appended.

These three, along with another 3,900 Hollywood stars, pledged not to work with Israeli film establishments for their “implication in genocide.” However, this was not the only controversy in store for the awards ceremony.

Stephen Colbert stepped up to receive his Emmy (BEST TALK SERIES) for the recently cancelled The Late Show to the sound of the wildest cheers all night. Thanking CBS for the opportunity, he spoke about loving his country and regretting the show’s transition from topics of love to loss.

As expected, the 2025 Emmys were packed with tear-jerking moments, bold statements, fun bits, and seriousness. We’re all excited to see what the film industry will bring next year!
