The Ultimate East Preview : Music Concerts

 By: Anirhutha Senthil Kumar

East’s music classes, including band, orchestra, and chorus, work hard all year to put on concerts for the school community. With four different concert seasons throughout the year, there are plenty of opportunities to come out and hear what East’s musicians have been working on.

Start off the year by attending the annual fall concerts, where musicians typically perform fall-themed pieces and sometimes even Halloween and spooky music. It’s a great way to kick off the concert season and hear the first performances of the year.

Next comes Winterfest, East’s biggest two-day music event of the year. Winterfest brings together band, orchestra, and chorus, with large ensembles performing wintery music to accompany the icy weather outside. And yes, you can audition to perform too! These smaller, audition-based student groups also get the chance to showcase their talent on multiple stages throughout the auditorium. Come early for preferred seating, enjoy the show, and see some of East’s best musical talent being showcased.

Later in the year, come to the Side-by-Side concerts to see multiple generations of musicians share the stage. Students from Transit Middle School join their high school peers to perform together as one big ensemble. It’s a chance to see both current and future East musicians come together through music.

Finally, the spring concerts close out the year with lighter, spring-themed music. These concerts also celebrate graduating musicians with senior slideshows, giving everyone a chance to recognize the seniors and send them off as they finish their final year at East.

Whether it’s the fall concerts, Winterfest, Side-by-Side, or the spring concerts, make sure to stop by at least once this year. Come support your peers, see their talent and hard work on display, and enjoy a fun night of music! Check out the table below for this year’s concert dates and make sure to mark your calendar.
