She also states that the album may be out by summer.

After much wait (nearly four years), Lorde is releasing the first single from her new album. With her last studio album, Melodrama, being released in 2017, many fans have been clamoring for content since. Due to many artists opting to announce and release albums online during the pandemic, fans have been hoping Lorde will follow suit.

And follow suit indeed. Her song, simply titled “Port” is set to release midnight eastern the night of March 31st, with an accompanying music video.

While it is not confirmed that the song is about the singer’s trip to Antarctica, many fans have speculated that it is, and not entirely without reason – Lorde is also selling a photobook for said trip.

Social media exploded with excitement and memes, and Lorde even replied to a few fans about the new song.

Fans are also eager to know more about a now very likely album. In a series emails to fans, Lorde wrote:

“I can tell you, this new thing, it’s got its own colours now. If you know anything about my work, you’ll know what that means.”

“The work is so f***ing good, my friend. I am truly jazzed for you to hear it.”

“… and if all goes according to plan, the long-expected album should be out by summer. It’s finished and I think it’s ready. It’s turned out really f***ing good. Thank you for waiting so long.”

Jack Antonoff, Lorde’s producer, has hinted at the album as well, though he has not explicitly stated anything yet.

The New Zealand singer-songwriter plans to release her third studio album this summer. The title and exact date are still unknown.
