On the first day of school, many sleepy students returned and were shocked to see much of East renovated and updated. From new wall paintings to more mirrors in the bathroom, construction at East is fantastic. All of the updates that took place this past summer has enhanced our building, making it a more comfortable and beautiful place for learning.
The third floor has the most striking changes. Junior Robin Marshall said, “I love the new lockers on the third floor. The old ones were rusty and needed to be repainted. They new ones are just perfect. They are finally wide enough to shove freshman inside.” Along with new locker areas, the carpets have been replaced. Senior Jakob Karbowski said, “I love the new carpets on the third floor. They are so soft and fluffy. Stroking them feels really good.” It seems that some students are very excited about the locker and carpets.
Changes are also occurring in the sports hallway. Celina Spitznogle, a senior track runner, said, “I love the new paintings in the sports hallway. I was tired of the same old design. This new red and gold pattern looks good and really reminds me why I am so proud to be an East flame.” The sports hallway looks awesome this year and is the ideal place for East athletes to get pumped before a big game.
For some students, the most significant changes have been those to the bathrooms. Sophomore Puja Sasankan said, “The bathroom renovations were well needed. The bathrooms have always been my least favorite part of this great school, but now they are another plus to East. The new sinks are great, and they actually stay on long enough for me to finish washing my hands!” Many other students were just as excited as Puja. Senior Felix Chin said, “I love using the bathroom at school now.” Most students at East agree that the updates to the bathrooms were a success.
These building updates are widely popular among both students and staff. Mr. Kryder said, “I really like the rugs. I’m also very glad about the new lockers. They can fit people inside.” When asked why he wanted to fit people inside lockers, he responded, “Because then you can jump out and scare the hell outta people!” He laughed wickedly.
The building is not yet complete, and improvements to East will continue into the future. Assistant Principal Mrs. Desantis said, “We are looking forward to more renovation on the second floor. During February of this year, we are expecting to close sections off during the school day for construction. Additionally, we will continue to upgrade the restrooms.”
The construction at East has been an enormous success. The lockers, carpets, paintings, and bathrooms make everyone at East prouder to be a flame.
