The tech department is a favorite to a lot of students at Williamsville east, the hands on experience, the diversity, and the teachers make a great time. One teacher, Mr Dellelis states that auto is his favorite course to teach because it really shows the students how to get dirty with your hands and it helps the students realize all the different career paths in the auto industry. Mr. Dellelis also teaches in a woodworking club, where the students can make creations with the different methods of cutting/shaping and designing the many different types of woods available.
The two favorite units for Mr. Delellis to teach in the automotive program is a tie between welding and the brake units, because it really breaks down the key details to show the students how to do those on their own at their own homes. A requirement for automotive class is to perform an oil change on their own without the assistance from a teacher. This is good because it really gives the students a nudge to take incentive to take care of their own vehicles instead of paying somebody to do it. Another great course in the technology department is Multimedia showcases the different works you can do on the computer with editing videos, photoshop, creating animations etc.. This is a great course because technology is growing fast in today’s society, so learning how to work on these computers is good for the new growing jobs in the future.
