Fighting Amongst the Reformers in APUSH
In the middle of an age of reformation in the United States, reformers in Mrs. Kantz’s AP U.S. History class debated on various reforms to introduce to the American people. From abolition and women's rights to graham crackers and prostitution, a fiery debate was imminent. Tables were flipped, bread was thrown, and tensions rose in President Jackson’s White House.
Music in a Whirlwind for Winterfest XLIX
As the holiday season progresses, East’s music department has been getting busy preparing for Winterfest XLIX! This year, our iconic winter concert will take place on Wednesday, December 20th, at 7pm, in addition to two assemblies the day prior for Transit Middle at 9:20 and East High at 1:15, during 8th period. Despite the shortened program this year, our ensembles and small groups are all working hard to make this Winterfest the best it can be.

Un Riassunto Dell’Italian Night Coffeehouse
On Friday, November 3rd, the East Side News hosted its very first Coffeehouse of the year--and the first ever without the pit. The night’s theme was Italian Night. Much like last year's Asian Fusion Night, Italian Night featured Italian dishes, especially pasta. Combined with a casual open mic starring an arrangement of acts, the night was fun, laid-back, and a great kickoff to November.
Get Ready for Impending Winterfest Auditions
As Thanksgiving break draws closer and closer, the East music department students have another date looming over their heads: November 27th, the day of auditions for Winterfest solos and small groups. As per tradition, it is the Monday we return to school post-break.
Time to Donate to the Thanksgiving Food Drive!
It’s that time of year again: the annual Thanksgiving food drive has started at East, and it will run until November 17. The food drive provides an awesome opportunity to help hundreds of families in Western New York just by donating certain boxed and canned items.
East’s National Merit Scholarship Semi-Finalists
After taking the PSAT exam last October in 2022, 10 Williamsville East students have been announced as National Merit Scholar Semi-finalists! Congratulations to Nathan Wan, Grant Wang, Andrew Jiang, Alexander Liang, Soumyadeep Bhattacharjee, Eric Liu, Zoey Tang, Audrey Fang, Angelina Tang, and Emma Wu! They have the opportunity now to compete for some 7,140 National Merit Scholarships worth nearly $28 million, which will be offered in the spring.
