Throughout the month of May, East’s Wellness Team will be holding a LEGO collection drive. Donation bins can be found outside the Main Office. Students can donate any LEGOS they have for children in hospitals as part of the John R. Oishei Children’s Hospital (OCH) Sebastian’s LEGO Club.
This charity is made to provide hospitalized children LEGOs as entertainment while they are ill. It was inspired by a Forest Elementary student, Sebastian Bradley, who died in 2018 from brain cancer.
He loved playing with LEGOs and wanted others to have the same opportunity as him, so he started Sebastian’s LEGO Club. During his life, Sebastian collected and donated hundreds of LEGOs to OCH.
Him, his family, and friends all collect for the charity. His sister, Maiah, said, “It’s so amazing to see the kids smile and it’s good to do good. My heart does go out to all of them. It makes me sad that people are in this situation but also kind of powerful knowing that we aren’t alone.”
The website for Sebastian’s LEGO Club reads, “With your help, this brave boy’s selfless dream of igniting imagination and creativity for kids who must face illness and hospitalization will become a reality.”
