From Barbie to Oppenheimer to Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Verse to The Little Mermaid to Mission: Impossible — Dead Reckoning Part One, this summer was defined by multiple box office hits! As we transition to another season, let’s take a look at some of the most anticipated movies of fall 2023! 

September

The Creator: Taking place in a future war between humans and artificial intelligence, Joshua, an ex-special forces agent, must hunt down and kill the Creator, who is behind the creation of advanced AI and a weapon that could obliterate mankind. Starring John David Washington, Gemma Chan, Ken Watanabe, and more, this sci-fi action thriller will be coming to theaters on September 29th!

October

Taylor Swift: The Eras Tour: Did you miss out on getting tickets to see Taylor Swift perform in person during her successful international Eras tour? Fear not! A concert film version featuring some of the tour’s best moments will be hitting the big screens on October 13th!

Killers of the Flower Moon: Based on David Grann’s best-selling nonfiction book, this upcoming Martin Scorsese movie features some of Hollywood’s biggest A-listers, including Leonardo Dicaprio and Robert DeNiro, and even an appearance by Brendan Fraser, winner of the Best Actor award at the 2023 Oscars. Set in the 1920s, this movie focuses on the mysterious murders of members of the Osage tribe after oil is found on their land, leading to an FBI investigation. This Western drama will be released in theaters on October 20th!

November

The Marvels: This sequel to Captain Marvel features Captain Marvel (Brie Larson), Ms. Marvel (Iman Vellani), and Captain Monica Rambeau (Teyonah Parris) teaming up to save the universe. This superhero film will be flying to theaters on November 10th! Save the date!

The Hunger Games: The Ballad of Songbirds & Snakes: Calling all Hunger Games series fans! With Francis Lawrence returning to direct this prequel to the series, Tom Blythe portraying a young Coriolanus Snow as a Hunger Games mentor, and Rachel Zegler as his mentee, be prepared for this action-packed movie coming to theaters on November 17th!

Wish: Inspired by Disney’s 100th anniversary, this animated film centers on a main theme across various Disney movies — wishes coming true! With Frozen’s Chris Buck directing and Jennifer Lee writing the script, Wish also stars “West Side Story” Oscar winner Ariana DeBose, Chris Pine, and Alan Tuduk. This magical film will be theatrically released on November 22nd!

December

Poor Things: Based on the novel written by Alasdair Gray, this movie’s plot focuses on a young woman (Emma Stone), who was brought back to life by an unorthodox scientist (Willem Dafoe), exploring the world and freeing herself from the prejudices of her time, which leads her to advocate for equality and freedom. Poor Things will be making its way into theaters on December 8th!

Wonka: Adapted from Roald Dahl’s Charlie and the Chocolate Factory and starring Timothée Chalamet, this prequel focuses on Willy Wonka’s interesting origin story and how he met the Oompa-Loompas through one of his beginning adventures. Follow young Wonka’s journey in theaters on December 15th!
