What does the season of fall mean to you? To some, it simply means the end of the summer, the segue from the warm to the cold. To others, it signifies the beginning of a new school year, the start of a new chapter in their life. Still to others, it means the beginning of their favorite sport’s season. Everyone has his or her own definition of it. But does anyone ever think of what’s on TV?
With all the new things swirling around your head in this particularly busy time of year, it’s easy to forget what shows you were meaning to pick up two months ago, in the dead of summer, when you had nothing to keep you from following all of your favorite shows religiously. Because of this, I have compiled all of the most promising TV shows right here in hopes that I have made someone’s endeavor to fill up a rainy Saturday just a little bit easier. So, here are (in my opinion) the best shows to watch this fall:
- Modern Family
It goes without saying that at least one mockumentary was essential to this list. With an incredibly diverse set of characters, Modern Family gives an inside look on a set of three different immediate families that you would never think at first glance were all related to each other. In all aspects, Modern Family gives the typical “nuclear family” show a run for its money. Plus, who doesn’t love Sofía Vergara?
- The Voice
The Voice. Or, as I like to call it, American Idol, but Better. Why? The Voice, in my opinion, outshines all other musical competition shows because of the sheer uniqueness of its format. While most competition shows have the traditional three or four judges who critique each contestant after a performance, the “judges” in The Voice do so much more. First of all, there aren’t really judges in The Voice at all – there are mentors. And with each celebrity mentor building his or her own individual team of contestants, The Voice brings the world of singing competition shows to a whole new level.
- The Walking Dead
ZOMBIES, am I right? Ok, I have to confess I don’t know all that much about this show, but I have a brother who does (let’s call him “Joe” for confidentiality reasons), and when he starts watching it, he can’t look away. I included The Walking Dead in this article because, although it’s not aimed at every audience, the audience it is aimed at is never dissatisfied. So, if you like blood, gore, and incredibly realistic-looking scenes of corpses tearing apart people, and, sometimes, other corpses(!), The Walking Dead is the show for you!
- Scorpion
Isn’t it annoying how many shows there are about a group of four geniuses solving top-secret FBI cases that no one else can crack? Of course not! Because Scorpion’s the only one! Based on the life of real-life genius Walter O’Brien, Scorpion brings a whole new twist to the crime-solving genre. In addition, it’s often even more intense than your typical, run-of-the-mill crime investigation show because, with geniuses as the main characters, the show needs to have a plot that isn’t too easy for them to keep up with. So, basically, take your normal crime show and multiply it by six. Isn’t that what we all need?
- Any Time Donald Trump Appears on Any TV Show
…Need I say more?
