  1. TIKTOK –

During this quarantine, people seem to spend more and more of their time on social media because what else is there to do. Tiktok is an application  to make short videos with filters, text, sounds, and music with more than 300 million active monthly users. It used to be the well-known app called Musically. Most people make lip syncing videos to popular songs, which at first is not an easy platform to understand. This app simply entertains people with random videos, trending videos, challenges and much more to offer. There are a wide selection of songs that can be used, along with editing features. Such as special effects and features, creating transitions, making your videos more entertaining t iewers because of the cool effects it shows. Since everyone is at home, counting the days until this quarantine is over, even more users are joining daily to see what other people are doing, bored at their house; Kids love this app, even though parents say it’s a waste of time and with this pandemic, time is all we have! It is a known fact that people have found themselves on this app for over two hours. Tiktok has mandated that on the foroyupage there are ads telling you to take a break, get some water and food. The “for you page” allows for everyone’s videos to be shared across the internet globally. The most popular countries of Tik Tok users are India (119.3 mn users), USA (39.6 mn users), and Turkey (28.4 mn users). Many celebrities now due to the quarantine have created accounts, joining in on the latest trends as well, such as, Tyga, Jason Derulo, Chris Brown, Justin and Hailey Bieber, and so many more. So while you’re at it, make some fun videos! They could go viral, making you famous. A lot of kids from our school have had accounts since last year, but keep them hidden because they can get embarrassing. Most of the time, everyone ends up laughing about these videos anyways. Trends are done on the daily by us whether it’s dancing or something stupid created by someone. Consider this an app that you post videos about your life, kind of like Snapchat, just a little less serious. There are people from our school that have gone “famous”, you could say, at least for buffalo, like Mikaili for example. So while you’re at home, if you wanna get a laugh, download tik tok. I’m sure you’ll find yourself laughing, sharing, or showing your family member what dumb, interesting, or factual video you came across.

  1. SNAPCHAT

Snapchat is a popular app used to not only message people, but to take pictures with many fun filters and lenses. People communicate by exchanging pictures and videos that disappear after viewing.  Once a chat or picture is opened, you’re unable to see again unless screenshotted or replayed (once only). Snapchat did recently create a feature allowing you to save chats permanently if you choose or to delete them after twenty four hours of viewing. This app is seen as another camera app not only because of all the fun lenses it contains, but because of the quality in general. Often, it’s debated whether the camera app or Snapchat’s camera is better itself. Though, this app seems like something kids use more, recently many more adult users have joined in on the fun. Moving on, Snapchat allows people to show what they’re up to for twenty four hours as well. “A Snapchat Story”  allows you to post whatever you’d like and it stays up on your page for twenty four hours, unlesss you delete it of course. Like one or a collection of moments, creating a narrative, that obviously you somewhat care about. Stories are like mini documentaries of events, games, holidays, championships, or any type of special calendar day. For example, today is National Siblings Day and people are posting pictures with them and their brothers and sisters, thanking them for everything. Something everyone seems to love about this app is “Snapchat Memories” which allows you to save your photos safely without ever having to worry about them being deleted. Unlike regular apple photos, where if you don’t back them up, they will delete if anything happens to your phone or icloud. Whether it’s not remembering a  password up to locking yourself out of your phone. There are always updates with this app. The most recent ones created more activities for people to do with their friends, family, or loved ones, whoever you contact on Snapchat. Such as quizzes, games, and photo-video editing tools.  Missing your family members? Download Snapchat and send funny pictures to them, creating a “Snapstreak”. This basically means the more you snap, a number will appear, creating “a stronger bond” between the two. There is a feature called “SnapMap” that let’s people see your location on a map! Although, you can turn this off, if you leave during this quarantine, chances are someone would randomly see. But, don’t worry, only your friends can see your location! So, while you’re at home doing nothing, snap your friends, family, and loved ones what this “quarentie madness” is doing to you!

  1. INSTAGRAM

Instagram is a very popular social media network and it has about 1 billion active users.  Instagram is a smorgasbord (a variety) of eye-catching visuals and inspiring creativity.  It’s also a social network where product-based businesses, influencers, and coaches can thrive.  Since introducing shoppable posts in 2018, the potential ROI for product-based businesses is higher than ever – not only can B2B’s connect with a massive audience, they can link the product information and sales straight from the ‘gram.  If your target demographic is under 35, Instagram is a gold mine: 63% of users are between the ages of 18 to 34, with virtually even split between male and female users.  Instagram is used for a lot of things such as boosting someone’s business and getting attention toward their business.  Instagram is considered to be the best social media platform for engagement or your ability as a brand to connect with your followers. It’s visual, simple and it’s attracting the younger generations more than other social media platforms. Instagram can go beyond just visuals.  A new feature that Instagram has recently rolled out is IG TV or Instagram TV.  This feature allows you to upload longer videos through channels that are all in a vertical format. It is much easier for users to discover your business channel and allows users to curate their content. Followers can share, comment and like just like a regular post.  Also it is used for public figures to make entertaining videos and post on Instagram.  The latest trend, due to this quarantine, going on is called “Until Tomorrow”. You post a picture on Instagram that a person would rarely even consider posting on their page, deleting it the next day.  These pictures range from the most embarrassing picture in your camera roll to the cutest baby picture you have. This trend goes to show that boredom has officially struck. If no one is allowed to go anywhere then people cannot post their coffee date or the latest event they’ve gone to. Instead influences like Kim Kardashian, are posting old memories and her goals during this “quarantine time”. During this quarantine a lot of people have been so bored and all they have been doing is staying on social media apps like instagram looking at funny clips, funny memes, the latest new trends, or his/her favorite celebrity’s new post or story.

  1. FACEBOOK

FaceBook has become a huge powerhouse in the social media industry over the years. Created in 2004, by a young entrepreneur named Mark Zuckerberg, FaceBook has amassed over 2.5 billion users while having at least 1.66 billion users log on per day. Their headquarters are located in Menlo Park, California, which hosts around 36,000 employees. Since FaceBook was created, it has become a huge ground for businesses, new news, friends and family, and just meeting new people in general. FaceBook, being a free app, has become more useful, in many cases, phone calls, watching the news, and emails. This is all because of one thing, time. Because social media connects everyone to everyone else, people learn and hear about new information very quickly. Facebook is also a platform for many other things, such as teaching and learning. There are many different pages on Facebook that do tutorials and teaching services for almost anything you can think of such as math problem tutorials as far as videos showing new basketball moves or how to play an instrument. Although Facebook is older and not as popular as the other apps listed, it can still be extremely useful during the current quarantine. When you’re bored go on Facebook, learn something new, start a business, have fun, or do all three. Your choice.
