The Bachelor’s Juan Pablo Galavis has undertaken the title of most controversial bachelor yet.
As Juan started the show, he was seen as a single father willing to do anything for his daughter, including trying to find a suitable mother and wife. His daughter, Camilla, is the pride and joy of his life, and she is taken into consideration amongst all of the contestants throughout the whole journey to find love.
Juan’s recent actions have led to people questioning what he’s really there for though. In the past couple episodes, he was shown kissing a lot of the contestants. He keeps saying how he can’t keep kissing everyone because of his daughter, yet he keeps doing it. Some are even calling him the most promiscuous bachelor yet.
Juan has also faced some serious controversy when he made a statement about having a gay bachelor. Juan said, “No… I respect [gay people] but, honestly, I don’t think it’s a good example for kids…” . Juan also said, “There’s this thing about gay people… it seems to me, and I don’t know if I’m mistaken or not… but they’re more ‘pervert’ in a sense. And to me the show would be too strong… too hard to watch” These comments caused a huge uproar. Juan’s statement immediately followed an apology by him. He said, “I want to apologize to all the people I may have offended because of my comments on having a Gay or Bisexual Bachelor, the comment was taken out of context. If you listen to the entire interview, there’s nothing but respect for Gay people and their families.” He also said, “The word pervert was not what I meant to say and I am very sorry about it, everyone knows English is my second language and my vocabulary is not as broad as it is in Spanish and, because of this, sometimes I use the wrong words to express myself.What I meant to say was that gay people are more affectionate and intense and for a segment of the TV audience this would be too racy to accept. The show is very racy as it is and I don’t let my daughter watch it. Once again, I’m sorry for how my words were taken. I would never disrespect anyone.”
Although his apology was sincere, people will not forget that these statements were made. They can forgive, but they won’t forget.
