In these final few weeks at Williamsville East there are many special events that will be taking place for the senior class. Here’s all the details seniors should know about upcoming events.
This first event is the school budget vote that will take place Tuesday May 15 at North School. Any seniors who are eighteen years old and registered to vote can participate in this vote. This is also a great opportunity for those who still need to complete one of the four individual actions required for government.
The next event is Senior Breakfast and Salute to Seniors, which will take place on the last day of school. The breakfast will take place from 9:20- 10:50 (3rd and 4th period) in the gym. Following the breakfast will be Salute to Seniors at 11:30. After Salute to Seniors, pizza and desserts will be served.
Senior prom will take place the next day, June 8th, at the Foundry Suites from 6:30-11:30.Ticket prices for the prom are $25 per person, and will be on sale starting May 14 in the main office with Mrs. McCarthy. Guest authorization forms are also available in the main office as well as on WITS. Please also let Mrs. McCarthy know when you purchase your tickets if you or your date has dietary restrictions. The meal otherwise will be filet of sirloin, chicken bruschetta, and appetizers. The last important detail for prom is table seating, which will be determined on Thursday May 31st at 2:45 in the business office. You can come and reserve a whole table of up to 10 guests. Seniors should discuss with their groups in advance who is sitting where so there are no miscommunications or confusions.
Post prom sponsored by the PTSA, will take place at 12am at Northtowns center. It is important to note that no one will be allowed to enter after 1am. All students must return a completed signed waiver to the post prom box in the school office by noon on Thursday June 8 to participate in post prom.
The final event for the class of 2018 is Graduation, which will take place on Sunday, June 24 at 3:30 at UB’s center for the arts. A mandatory graduation rehearsal will take place on Thursday June 21st from 8:30-10:30 at East High School. Students will report to the commons, and will receive their caps, gowns, tassels, and NHS stoles after the rehearsal. Seniors will also receive 4 complimentary tickets for graduation following this rehearsal. Students may request more tickets when they pick-up their tickets, and extras will be handed out if available after everyone has their initial tickets. Seniors can also submit a speech, which should be between 3-5 minutes in length, to be considered for graduation to Mrs. Warner by May 23. If students have any questions about these upcoming events, they can ask the class advisors or class officers.
