This week, the Pro Football Hall of Fame fest took place. This festival celebrated 100 members of the Hall of Fame, including notable names like Jim Brown, often considered one of the best players of all time. The event took place in Cleveland, Ohio, and was a large success, attracting 5000 fans from across the country. It was the largest gathering of Hall of Famers ever outside an induction ceremony.
The president and CEO of the Football Hall of Fame was quoted saying that “Fan Fest is an event where fans get to hear, meet and greet Hall of Famers face to face. Over a five-hour period, four shows of five hours, we’ve created opportunities where fans can hear from Hall of Famers in our 1,000-seat theaters, the legends talking about how they got to Canton.”
This idea has interesting implications for the fanbase and the players. Fans at the event get the opportunity to see many legends of the sport. Many were understandably excited, and according to one, “He [a relative] ’s a football fan for years and years. And there was nothing like this that happens where they’re all in one spot. It’s a wonderful event.”
Its also a great oppurtunity for hall of famers to meet with others, and even for them to meet their heroes as children, just as children watch them. Its a great experience, and allows all time greats to meet each other. The group that ran the event indicated that there could be additional conventions in the years to come.
