Not many people would imagine being above seven feet tall and being extremely fit. However, there is always an exception. Tacko Fall, seven foot six Celtics rookie out of Dakar, Senegal, has taken the league by surprise. This rookie phenom has not only been a team favorite in the Celtics; he is arguably one of the league’s favorite players.
Throughout his college career at UCF, Fall averaged 10.1 points/game, 2.4 blocks/game, and 7.7 rebounds/game. Those numbers aren’t off the charts, however, he did this in only 23 minutes per game and had a 74% field goal accuracy.
After not getting drafted, the Celtics signed Fall to an exhibition contract to see how he would do in summer league basketball. After having an impressive summer league, Fall was signed by the Celtics to an actual NBA contract. Next, Fall had an impressive preseason with the Celtics. There he became a fan favorite among the Celtics. The Celtics now want him to gain more experience and physicality, so they called him down to the NBA G-League. In the G-League Tacko will be able to play with more experienced and older players allowing him to improve his game.
However, outside of basketball, Fall is an extremely smart, modest Muslim who goes to the mosque every Friday with teammate Enes Kanter. In school, Fall averaged a 4.0 GPA and was able to get into the 95th percentile in the SAT. Tacko originally planned on working for Microsoft or Siemens, however, was persuaded on taking on basketball. Therefore, Tacko Fall has a very exciting career ahead of him, and we will be waiting for what happens next.
