The East Side News is proud to declare our first Coffeehouse of the year a success! The event took place on the evening of December 2nd in the Commons with the theme Brinner (Breakfast for Dinner). For those of you who unfortunately could not make it, let’s take a look back at a night of excitement and energy!
First and foremost, it was thanks to Mr. Huber, Mrs. Lanzone, editor-in-chief Colleen Meosky, and deputy editor-in-chief Amanda Ojeda that the whole event was properly planned out! Pen Fang, Eileen Wang, and Amanda created the designs for the menus that students used to order food from our delicious lineup of waffles, pancakes, sweet treats, coffee, and more. In addition, Pen and I (Angelina) ran the open mic, and stage crew carried us the whole show, managing the mics, lighting, and audio. Our editors and club members all worked together to make it happen, whether it was setting up the stand or donating food items or just bringing good vibes and lots of energy. Thank you all for your contributions! We truly do appreciate it.
Other than a delicious lineup of food (to those working behind the counter, I congratulate you on your cooking), we had a fantastic open mic! We loved the variety East brought to the show. We had karaoke, singing with live instrumentals, a band, poetry readings, rap, and stand-up comedy. It was awesome seeing everyone getting to showcase their talents in a chill environment, and we thank you, the audience, for being so supportive of everyone and cooperative with us MCs as we ran around looking for people and moving acts around! We appreciate you guys, and it’s your performances that make the night fun.
We thank you again for the successful coffeehouse! It was great seeing everyone back together again. We’re planning on having another two coffeehouses this year, so keep an ear out for that! If you’re interested in getting involved with the club (and helping us put our next event together), drop in on our Wednesday meetings, anytime you’d like! We’re moving to Room 204, the computer lab, soon, so listen to the announcements for when that happens. Our doors are always open to new writers. If you’d like to support us but don’t want to write, then just taking and reading our newspapers–located in the wooden boxes at the Commons, as well as in the staircases–would make us very happy.
