By Mrs. Kasprzak
Last year, I was quickly impressed by someone who was new to our East family. Within the first few weeks of school, this person’s name came up frequently among students in the most positive of ways!
Students saw this person as someone who was genuinely interested and invested in their success. They talked about how this person creates an open and supportive classroom environment where students feel they can be themselves, where they can take risks and above all else, where they feel safe. Over the last year, I have found all of these things to be true of this individual. He is genuine in his interactions with students and colleagues. When I find that one of our students could benefit from a connection with a strong and positive role model/mentor, he is one of my “go to” people.
His love for his job and our students shines through every day; it is appreciated by so many people, but especially our students who might need that shoulder to cry on, an ear to listen without judgement and/or a confident voice that encourages them to keep going.
