For the first time in the school’s history, Williamsville East will be hosting an all-male pageant to determine which senior will receive the title of Mr. East. Participants must upload a video of themselves on Youtube where they tell viewers why they want to be Mr. East and must have a special talent they can showcase during the show. A link to this video must then be sent with an accompanying application to Mrs. Mahaney or a Link Crew member. Participants must identify as male and be in twelfth grade. The eight to ten finalists will have to perform a themed dance, an opening group dance, and will be interviewed in casual wear, must do a sports skit with their escort, and must undergo a pre-rehearsed question and answer session in formal wear. Participants will also have to demonstrate their talent to the audience. Interested individuals must apply by the end of this year.
The Mr. East pageant will be sponsored by Link Crew, and was devised by Link Crew president Sydney Sadkin and Link Crew advisor Mrs. Mahaney. They wished to create a fun event
where East students can relax and have fun at the end of the year. The event has been held at Clarence, Lancaster, and Depew High Schools for many years, but East will be the first Williamsville high school to put it on. The pageant will be held on Thursday, April 14th, at 7:00 PM; unfortunately, this means that FBLA members going on the States trip will not be able to participate in the pageant since it occurs at the same time. Admission is five dollars, and all proceeds go to the Women and Children’s Hospital of Buffalo.
