The week started off with the Kick-off Homecoming Assembly. The gym was divided by grade level and was overwhelmed by the amount of spirit in each section. The freshman section was decorated in blue, sophomore section was green, junior section was yellow, and the senior section was decorated in red and gold. At the kick-off assembly, the nominees for Homecoming King and Queen were announced. For Homecoming King, Jacob Ward, Joshua Weissert, Parker Venator, Nicky Lazarov, and Majd Ayoub were nominated. For Homecoming Queen, Tina Serghany, Gemma Petrulla, Sabrina Sebastian-San Miguel, Victoria Balazs, and Emma Ulatowski were nominated.

The week continued with a new Homecoming tradition, Meme Day. From 3:00-4:00, the Care Walk took place on the track, collecting $5 donations to participate in the walk. Seniors earned government hours for participating and an individual action for donating. This walk raised funds for Cancer Awareness.

On Wednesday, the long standing tradition of -Er Day happened. At least four people dressed as Mr. Huber. Other notable costumes included “Loser”, “Amoeba Sister”, “Future Landowner”, and “Lavender”. Luckily, nobody dressed as a “doct-er”.

Thursday was Theme Day. Each grade level dressed up as characters from different board games. Freshmen were Candyland, Sophomores were Operation, Juniors were Battleship, and Seniors were Life.

At 5:00, the ever-exciting Powderpuff game took place on the football field. The Powderpuff game was an opportunity for junior and senior girls to go head to head, and compete in a friendly game of football. They played with the support of the junior and senior guys, cheering for them on the sidelines. Following Powderpuff was the Taste of East. The Taste of East gave students the opportunity to support different clubs, who sold food. Different food trucks also made appearances. Towards the end of Taste of East, there was an immense bonfire, to bring an end to a very eventful night.

On Friday, it is Senior Dress Up Day, and for the rest of the school, it is Flames spirit day. Then at 1:30, the Homecoming King and Queen Assembly begins. Each nominee will have a teacher of their choosing read their speech, and will be escorted by their parents or close friends. Then at the end of the assembly, our Homecoming Court will be announced. At 5:00, the annual Homecoming parade will be taking place at Paradise Park. Then at 7:00, the East football team will be going up against Kenmore West. Go support East at the Football game!

The exciting week ends with the Homecoming dance from 7:00-10:00 at East on Saturday night!
