What would you do to cure a loved one of a disease that doctors don’t even have the answers to?

Tella Holloway just found the way to cure her brother, of course there’s the fact that her parents have been trying to hide this from her. To cure her brother she will have to compete in the Brimstone Bleed, a race that lasts three month and takes place across the jungle, desert, ocean and mountains. Tella’s fueled by the thought of finally having her brother well again, but all the other contenders are trying to save their loved ones as well.

With the allies that she’s made and their Pandora companions at their side they decide to face this race together but the only questions that remain are who will win, and why have so many fallen to diseases that no one can seem to explain in the first place?

By the end of this book I was left craving three thing, Guy Chambers, the male lead in this book, a Pandora, creatures with special powers that are undeniably adorable, and the sequel that is set to come out in 2015. This is one of the best books I have read in the month that was January 2014.

Victoria Scott has written an amazing story that can be compared to The Hunger Games but is even better. Yeah, it is better than The Hunger Games. This modern day thriller is action packed and full of adventure that is sure to be the cure for any reader left with the hangover that Mockingjay left behind. Tella’s will and strength had me stuck to the pages and wanting more at the end of it all. The world of the Brimstone Bleed is competitive, terrifying, and an intriguing world filled with danger and excitement.

Scott left me stunned with the quality of the plot and writing. She creates a world that you just get sucked into and you really get to know the characters. The ending of Fire & Flood could leave a reader shocked, gasping for air, and definitely begging for the sequel. This is a 5 out of 5 flames must read for any fans of The Hunger Games and Divergent.
