Found Heaven On Tour is based off of singer songwriter Conan Gray’s newest studio album, Found Heaven, although it also features many other songs from his discography as a whole, including earlier hits such as Heather and Maniac. Gray kicked off the world tour in Melbourne back in July, and recently visited Toronto towards the end of last month. Although the artist has played many shows in Toronto, there was something that made this one extra special for Gray and his fans alike.
On September 23, Gray played the Budweiser Stage. The venue has a capacity of approximately 16,000, making it the biggest headline show he’s ever played. Gray expressed his gratitude from the beginning of the show to the very finish, telling Toronto: “don’t leave me hanging” (a reference to the lyrics of his last encore song).
Gray not only showed his audience how much their support meant to him with words, but with actions as well. The young artist teared up while singing Family Line, a deep cut from his second studio album, Superache, and got so choked up that he was unable to sing for a moment. Luckily, the crowd had his back, singing the lyrics back to him as he held the mic outwards.
Conan Gray doesn’t rely solely on the support of his fans, however. He also has a hardworking team, an amazing band, and a captivating opener: Maisie Peters. Peters released her first studio album in 2021, though she debuted several years earlier. She wrote about Gray via Instagram: “we used to comment on each others’ youtube videos in 2018 so it’s so fun and crazy and cool to be on tour together now.”
Gray wore a red two piece (a cropped vest and leather pants) featuring many silver emblems of a star, the symbol of Found Heaven. He kept the pants for the encore, but ditched the vest for a tank top reading “Belieber,” ironically or not we may never know.
Gray apologizes for the tears, but he promises that they are happy ones. Toronto will definitely be a show he’ll remember long after he wraps up Found Heaven on Tour in London next month.
