Many people are excited about new top selling books that are becoming movies. One example would be The Maze Runner written by James Dashner. There are four books in this action filled series. Throughout the series it discusses several people that show up at a maze and do not remember how they ended up there. No one has ever survived the maze that they have to get through in order to get out. The movie stars Dylan O’brien as the lead role, Thomas Brodie-Sangste. “‘ I’m interested in seeing Dylan O’brien play Thomas in this movie. He is definitely one of my favorite actors, and I can’t wait to see how he becomes Thomas in the movie,’” says Gurleen Kaur. The movie comes out on Friday September 19th. Another book somewhat similar to that series is Suzanne Collins Mocking Jay. This book is the third book of The Hunger Games trilogy and stars Jennifer Lawrence as Katniss , Josh Hutcherson as Peeta, and Liam Hemsworth as Gale. In this book of the series it refers to the games in the first and second book, and discusses the romance between main characters Katniss and Peeta. “‘I’m excited to see Mocking Jay because I want to see how they tie all of the books together,’” says anonymous source. The movie will be broken up into two parts, the first part comes out on November 21st.
Not only are people excited about books that are soon to become movies, but about movies that came out over the summer. The book If I Stay by Gayle Forman recently came out on August 22nd. Many people are in love with the heart breaking story that stars Chloe Grace Moretz as Mia Hall, a 17-year old cellist. The book discusses the relationship between Chloe and her boyfriend Adam, who is played by Jamie Blackley. A tragic car accident also takes place, which is when Mia herself has to determine if she stays or if she dies.
Another book that recently came out over the summer is The Giver by Lois Lowry. The movie stars Jeff Bridges as The Giver, Brenton Thwaites as Jonas, Meryl Streep as the Chief Elder, and Taylor Swift as Rosemary. It discusses a corrupt society. The book was meant to discuss the lives of people in a utopia. The “utopia” ends up appearing to be more of a dystopia. The movie recently came out on August 15th.
The Fault in Our Stars by John Green was another trending movie and top selling book. The movie came out in early June, but what most people are excited about now is buying the movie that comes out on September 16th.
These are just a few of best selling books that have or will become movies sometime this year. Some have to do with action such as The Maze Runner , others have to do with romance such as If I Stay. Others have to do with both such as Mocking Jay. Each are eye opening and heart warming stories that many people are interested in.
