East’s Drama Club’s annual Spring musical will be held on Thursday, February 4th at 7 PM; Friday, February 5th at 7 PM; and on Saturday, February 6th, at 2 PM and 7 PM. They will be performing The Wiz, a rendition of L. Frank Baum’s The Wizard of Oz inspired by the African American experience. The play is actually closer to the book than the iconic film, involving both all four witches and using the silver slippers of the original as opposed to the more famous ruby ones.
Senior Anna Kresse will star as Dorothy; sophomores Anthony Lafonara and Adam Kluge and senior Carter Richards will play her companions the Cowardly Lion, the Scarecrow, and the Tin Man respectively. Senior Elizabeth Bamford will play Dorothy’s doting Aunt Em.
Tickets will be 10 dollars and will be sold in Student Street during school and at the door. A meet and greet with the cast will be held from 12:30 to 1:30 for younger children to attend before the Saturday show; refreshments will be served at this time. The play is family-friendly and is highly recommended for both children and adults.
