Beauty and the Beast- Priya Pindiprolu

It’s a tale as old as time. Beauty and the Beast was the first Disney musical to be performed on Broadway, as well as one of the longest running shows. After a successful thirteen years, in 2007 it’s closing made room for another Disney musical, The Little Mermaid. The magical musical has even been nominated for nine Tony Awards. The incredible musical is the tale of an over privileged prince who is cursed by an Enchantress. Now in the body of a hideous beast, he must learn to leave, before the last petal of the enchanted rose falls. Along the way, you will meet an assortment of Enchanted Objects, including: Lumiere, Cogsworth, Mrs. Potts, Madame de la Grand Bouche, Chip and Babbette. They offer witty banter and a sprinkling of singing and dancing. If you are eager to find out how the classic story ends, come see the East Drama Club perform, from February 1st-3rd. The cast will also be putting on a preview of the show, the week of the show.
The production features a great, committed group of talented performers. Every lead, dancer and ensemble members has a huge role in making this musical such a hit. The production will feature seasoned seniors such as Anthony Lafornara, Adam Kluge, Mikaela Mahaney, Olivia Notaro, Brianna Hoover and many more. As well as eager freshmen, like, Presley Gerena, Skylar Cich, and Cameron Kurtz. Freshman, Noah Erhnst, says, “Noah “It’s really just a community effort and it makes my heart feel warm to see the world connected through theatre”. What makes this show as incredible as it is, is every single person in the cast, crew and pit orchestra. Sierra Gibson, “What I’m excited for this Musical Production of Beauty and the Beast is how everything is magical when you put the stage to life as everything is real.”
This production would not be possible without the hard work and commitment of several people. Ms. Reilly is responsible for teaching the entire cast the vocals, that are the core of the musical, among playing piano in the pit orchestra. Mrs. Schuler is the conductor of the pit orchestra, and helps make the musical run as smooth as possible. Mrs. LoVullo is our wonderful choreographer. Without her, the fabulous jazz squares and dance breaks would not be as stellar. And of course, one cannot forget about Jenny Mccabe who directs the entire production. In fact, when she was a student at Williamsville East, she played the role of Belle in their production of Beauty and the Beast. The show would not be what it is without the dedication and support of Mrs. Schuler, Mrs. LoVullo, Jenny Mccabe, and Ms. Reilly.
