As the school year comes to an end and the class of 2024 finally sees the light of graduation, the East Side News is hosting their final coffeehouse of the year: Asian Fusion Night. From delicious food and open mics to nostalgia and bittersweet moments, the night of June 7th is one you definitely don’t want to miss.

On Friday, June 7th, students can come together to enjoy classic Asian cuisines (at a very affordable cost), perform acts of their choosing, and hang out with their friends one last time before the end of the school year. Being the last coffeehouse of the year, this night in June falls precedent to Italian Night and Brinner, previous Newspaper successes. Crowds of students are expected to come, and many more are expected to sign up for acts.

The cost of food will range from $0.50-$3.00: Pocky, Ramen, Boba, and Mochi Ice Cream are a few of the items that will be served. Kitchen is expected to open at 7:10 until 9:00; cash only. Any unsold food remaining will be auctioned off at discounted prices at the end of the night.

There will be a sign up sheet available for anyone who is interested in performing an act beginning at 6:45. Just a note, spots fill up quickly and we will most likely be unable to run through all acts, so sign up early and be aware that you are not guaranteed an opportunity to perform if you have a later slot! Expect Enigmous B, as well as Newspaper Seniors to present an act.

On the open mic, junior Senuthi Kahandawalaarachchi says, “Coffeehouse always has a lot of different elements, from music to singing to poetry, and it’s cool to get a broad view of topics.” Additionally, senior Noah Meyer says, “It’s pretty fire.” We’re excited to see everyone there! 7-10 PM, Friday, June 7th. Be there or be square.
