Biggest Loser: Too Far?

24 year old Rachel Frederickson came on to The Biggest Loser weighing 260 lbs. Needless to say, she did not leave the biggest loser weighing nearly that much. The whole point of The Biggest Loser is for people to lose weight and regain a healthy lifestyle back, or learn how to live a healthy lifestyle. Even the contestants who don’t win the show, or go home early on, leave with at least some lost weight, and the knowledge and ability to go home and do it on their own.

Lucky for Frederickson, she didn’t have to figure out how to do it on her own. She was able to stay the duration of the competitive show and not only lose the weight she wanted to, but she actually won the whole show as well. On the season finale of the show, Frederickson weighed in at 105 lbs, losing a total of 155 lbs.
Her victory on the show aroused some speculation as to whether she had taken her weight loss a little too far. Some people are wondering if she has an eating disorder now. Even the trainers of the show, Bob Harper and Jillian Michaels, were shocked at the finale when the amount of weight Rachel lost was revealed. Rachel is 5’5 and with her new weight of 105 her BMI is 17.6, putting her underweight. Just because she lost this much weight though, doesn’t mean she is underweight or even has an eating disorder. Losing the weight and feeling this healthy and good about herself is something new for Rachel and she will figure out the healthiest direction for herself as she goes along.

Although her weight loss has caused a lot of controversy for herself, Rachel is happy with her new life as a healthy human. This change in lifestyle can open a lot of doors for her and the ability to do things she was not previously able to before her drastic weight loss. Hopefully people will let Rachel enjoy her new transformation and figure out what is best and most healthy for her.
