Girl Up and Med Outreach teamed forces in order to make cards to support children in hospitals like Roswell Park and the Courage for Carly fund. It was a lot of fun; holiday music was played and people sat with their friends, laughing and having a good time while making the cards. Filling them with cheery messages like “Happy holidays” and “Have a wonderful winter” made spreading joy to those who need it an easy and fulfilling task. Lia Brunskill, a sophomore who attended the card-making event, stated, “It was so amazing, and I had so much fun. It was such a great experience and I had such a great time with friends. It makes me feel happy making these cards for kids who need them. I’m glad I came.” Another sophomore, Phoenix Pham said, “I spent a lot of time on my cards and I’m happy that they went to someone that needed them. I had a great time and was excited that they would make someone’s day.”
NHS and Government hours were also given for making a specific amount of cards, which was a nice reward, along with the reward of doing something selfless for others. This card drive spread cheer to not only the children, but also to those at East.
