The vehicle market has never been more exciting than in recent years with electric vehicles (EVs) going mainstream. Industry and innovation has led humanity as a whole to output more carbon into the atmosphere than ever before possible, leaving the human race in dire need of green relief. In recent years, electric manufacturers have invested more and more resources in the production of EVs in order to try and gain a larger share in the lucrative, new electric vehicle industry.
Just recently, the North American Car, Truck and Utility Vehicle of the Year Awards (NACTOY for short) has released their 2023 vehicle rankings, with 2 of the 3 awards going to electric vehicles. Out of the 47 eligible vehicles for the award, 19 being electric, the Acura Integra, Ford F-150 Lightning, and KIA EV6 took first place for the car, truck, and utility categories, respectively.
Although electric cars and utility vehicles have ranked first place in previous years, this is the first year we have seen an electric pickup truck rank on top, the Ford F-150. The Internal Combustion Engine (ICE) version of the Ford F-150 is one of the best selling pickup trucks on the market, so it is no surprise that Ford has seen so much success in their new electric variant, introducing the world of benefits electric vehicles have to offer to their customer base.
Despite not being as cool as flying cars, electric vehicles and their superior technology, zero emissions, and futuristic looks have taken us one step closer to the needed green relief. Regardless of the critics, electric vehicles will help to reverse the ever increasing trend of humanity’s carbon output. With 2 out of the 3 North American Vehicle of the Year Awards going to electric vehicles, we are headed in a direction that shows hope for the future of electric cars and humanity.
