Disclaimer: This is the last article that The East Side News will ever publish about How I Met Your Mother. I promise.
Legen-wait for it I hope you’re not lactose intolerant because the rest of that word is-DARY! Legendary! That is the word to describe these last 9 slaptastic years of How I Met Your Mother. Season 2 brought us the wonder of Robin Sparkles and the slap bet-IN THE SAME EPISODE! Season 3 started the mystery behind the mother’s yellow umbrella. Season 4 and 5 brought us The Bro Code and The Playbook. Finally, in season 9 everything we have ever wanted to know was unveiled to us. We finally met the mother, found out her name, and finally for the love of god found out what Barney’s job was.
Some of you were happy with the finale of the overall show, most of us weren’t…but one thing we can all agree on is that we loved the show. We found it to be funny, inspiring, and the type of show that can’t be remade of copied in anyway. Carter Bays and Craig Thomas did an overwhelmingly amazing job while creating this show. It was filled with yellow umbrellas, ducky ties, slaps, and high fives. Not to mention the almost obscene number of catch phrases. No matter how you felt about the finale you don’t have to worry. When the DVD for Season 9 comes out there will be an option to watch an alternate ending to the ending we all saw on March 31st. We are not exactly sure what will be the alternate ending, but we know there is one. If you can’t wait that long then you should be able to find many fan made alternate endings on YouTube.
Some of the biggest moments on How I Met Your Mother would have to be the episode “Slap Bet” where we are introduced to Robin Sparkles and the slap bet. It would lead to many more episodes like “Slapsgiving” and “Slapsgiving 2: Revenge of the Slap” and many more songs like “Sandcastles In the Sand” and “P.S. I Love You”. We also loved “Nothing Suits Me like a Suit” in the episode “Girls vs. Suits” where Barney has to pick his suits or a hot female bartender and decides to decide by breaking into a musical number.
Some of the most emotional moments of this show would have to be Lily’s rooftop confession where she reveals to Ted the hardships of being a mother, Barney’s never ending second when Robin rejects Barney for Kevin, Ted’s 45 Day Speech to the mother, and Ted’s AC/DC Christmas light show for Robin when she discovers she can never have kids. The most emotional moment of the whole show would have to be when Lily tells Marshall that his father died. Marshall has always been the uplifting one in the group and to see him crying it brought us all to tears as well.
The only burning question left in all of our minds with the end of this show is…where did that darn pineapple come from?
