Milton Wolf, Obama's 2nd cousin, is running for office.

Milton Wolf is a radiologist and President Obama’s second cousin. He will be running against Kansas’s three-term senator Pat Roberts in the Republican Party primary bid on August 5th. Recently Wolf’s bid for the senate seat has been rocked by new information.

In the past Wolf has criticized Roberts for not being in touch with the state and recently polls showed that he was gaining ground on the three time incumbent. A few weeks ago the Topeka Capital-Journal posted a video interview featuring Wolf discussing comments Wolf had made earlier in his career about his patients. Once he said that he wanted to know where to buy a gun that so effectively blew a person’s head off. He wrote, another time, it didn’t matter how a victim’s body was positioned because, “it’s not like the patient’s going to complain.” In a recent statement Wolf said, “Several years ago I made some comments about these images that were insensitive to the seriousness of what the images revealed. Soon thereafter, I removed those images and comments, again several years ago.” Wolf then tried to spin the situation into an opportunity to bash his political opposition. “For them to be published in a much more public context now, by a political adversary who would rather declare war on doctors than answer serious questions that Kansans have, is truly sad.  However, my mistakes are my own and I take full responsibility for them.”

In a different interview Wolf gave a different reason for the post of these graphic images on his Facebook saying, “It is an educational thing for people to see these consequences.” Wolf has stated that all the images were of his own patients. But in one social media post Wolf referred to a gunshot wound victim saying, This is not about trying to violate anybody’s rights or privacy. This is not even a patient of mine.”

National Republican Senatorial Committee communications director Brad Dayspring tweeted recently, “When a candidate posts & mocks pictures of the dead on Facebook, that’s an issue – of character, judgement, & stability.” Senate Roberts’ executive campaign manager Leroy Towns wrote in an e-mail “The story speaks for itself.” In reference to these recent happenings.

Milton Wolf recently attended CPAC, the Conservative Political Action Conference, in Washington DC as an attempt to connect with activists who could revive his campaign. At this time Wolf is well behind Roberts in the polls. “These kind of political conventions, I love ’em,” Wolf said. “They’re nerd-fests for people like us. We can all come together, and, you know, when I walk through these halls, people say hello and wish me well.”

Wolf talked to many conservative organizations including: Young Americans for Liberty, Amy Kremer of the Tea Party Express, FreedomWorks and the Club for Growth. “Look — I get it, and I’ve owned up to my mistakes,” Wolf said. “I’ve taken down those posts, which I know were insensitive. But Pat Roberts, this man who lives in Virginia, is going negative, and I think he’s real worried about our campaign, which is drawing big, big crowds across Kansas.”

Senator Roberts owns a home in Dodge City, Kansas which currently has tenants living in it. He does spend most of his time in his house in Virginia. Earlier in the campaign questions about Robert’s residency were a huge part of Wolf’s critique of Roberts and gave his campaign a boost. Unfortunately for Wolf in the recent weeks the stories about his Facebook posts have been the main focus of almost all the Kansas voters.
