It is almost Thanksgiving time, which means that the annual East Thanksgiving Food Drive is going on right now. Each year, Williamsville East helps collect food items and donate them to over 400 families in Western New York.

By donating, you would be contributing to: Amherst Senior Centre, Hispanics United of Buffalo, Citizens Community Development Corporation, Loaves and Fishes Food Pantry, Journeys End, Amherst Youth Board, Cornerstone Manor, City Mission, Families Helping Families/Foster Parent Network and Community Action Organization.

To help, you can donate: Canned vegetables, boxed stuffing and potatoes, gravy, cranberries and boxed desserts. Bring any donations to the bins outside main office.

In addition to the Food Drive, you can participate in the East Wall of Thanks. You can buy  a turkey or feather and then write on the wall what you are thankful for. All proceeds will be used to purchase one hundred frozen turkeys.

You can also participate in the annual food drive competition. Each grade level tries to collect as many donations as possible. The grade level with the highest amount donations will win 200 dollars from Student Council.

Student Council President, Josh Weissert, says, “All of us should work together to help families of Western New York have a great Thanksgiving dinner. As for the food drive competition, Go Ham!”

Last year the Class of 2021 won the food drive competition with a staggering 985 items. Class of 2021 Vice President, Matthew Small, and class advisor, Mrs Wagar, expressed their belief that “Sophomores will dominate again!”

Please donate items to support the local families of Western New York!
